Our wedding DJs use only the highest quality and most reliable sound and lighting equipment! We have a workshop where we store all of our equipment. It is tested before and after every event and maintained regularly to ensure any chance of equipment failure is minimised while it is out on a job. We also keep our equipment test and tagged and up to date with health and safety standards to ensure there are no issues with us being allowed on site or causing any hazards.

Have a question? We have the answers. Read our FAQ for commonly asked questions, or contact us for more information.
We know we’re a little biased, but your DJ can have a huge impact on how your wedding feels.
The right DJ doesn’t just play music. They’re often one of the few suppliers involved from the moment guests arrive until the final song of the night. They’re helping create atmosphere, keeping the energy flowing, making announcements if booked to also take on MC duties, coordinating with other suppliers and ultimately helping your guests have an amazing time.
When you’re comparing DJs, we’d encourage you to look beyond just the price. Consider their experience with weddings, how they communicate, whether they understand the style of wedding you’re planning and how confident you feel in them after your conversations. Do they have a support network, emergency plans, back ups and good communication and clear outline of services and contractual services.
Most importantly, ask yourself: “Can I trust this person to help deliver one of the most important days of my life?”
If the answer is yes, you’re probably on the right track.
One of the biggest mistakes we see is couples focusing entirely on music and not enough on the practical side of things.
Questions like:
These things don’t sound exciting when you’re planning a wedding, but they’re often the difference between a smooth, stress-free day and one with unnecessary headaches.
A great DJ should make your life easier, not give you more things to worry about.
Because weddings don’t come with a rehearsal run for the real thing.
Professional DJs should always have backup equipment available. Technology is fantastic until it decides not to cooperate, and having contingency plans in place means your guests will never even know there was an issue.
MC services are another area couples often underestimate. Having someone confident, organised and professional guiding your guests through the formalities helps everything run smoothly and keeps the day on track without feeling rushed.
Ceremony audio is equally important. We’ve all been to weddings where guests at the back couldn’t hear the vows or speeches. Clear, reliable sound ensures everyone can share in those special moments.
And finally, music planning. The best weddings aren’t built around a generic playlist. They’re built around your personalities, your favourite songs, your guests and the atmosphere you want to create. That’s why we spend time getting to know our couples and understanding what will make the celebration feel uniquely theirs.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple: we want you to spend your wedding day enjoying every moment rather than worrying about what might go wrong.
After performing at hundreds of weddings, we’ve noticed that many couples focus on the obvious questions first – things like pricing, packages, and music styles.
While those are important, some of the most valuable questions are often the ones that don’t immediately come to mind.
For example:
These questions give you a much better understanding of how experienced and prepared your DJ is.
The reality is that anyone can put together a playlist. What you’re really investing in is someone who can adapt, problem-solve and help your wedding run smoothly no matter what the day throws at them.
Every couple is different, and every wedding has its own personality.
Some couples want a packed dance floor from the first song to the last. Others want a relaxed atmosphere with background music and a few hours of dancing later in the evening.
That’s why we always encourage couples to ask questions like:
The answers will help you understand whether the DJ is genuinely the right fit for your celebration.
At the end of the day, you’re inviting someone to be a big part of one of the most important days of your life. It’s important that you not only trust them professionally but feel comfortable with them personally too.
The more information we have about your venue before the wedding day, the better we can prepare. We are familiar with many of the most popular venues all over NZ and frequent them regularly but its always best to discuss all these for every event to make sure no detail is overlooked.
We don’t need every little detail, but there are a few things that can make a huge difference when it comes to planning equipment, setup and logistics.
Some of the most helpful things to know include:
Knowing these details ahead of time helps us arrive prepared and ensures there are no surprises on the day.
Absolutely. Most weddings run incredibly smoothly, but there are a few things that can catch couples off guard if they’re not considered early.
Power Access
This is especially important for outdoor ceremonies. Not every ceremony location has power available nearby, so we may need to bring battery-powered systems or make alternative arrangements.
Weather
If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony or reception, we always recommend having a wet-weather backup plan. While we’d all love sunshine every wedding day, Mother Nature doesn’t always get the memo.
Rain, strong winds and extreme heat can all impact equipment and guest comfort, so having a backup option provides peace of mind for everyone involved and knowing when to execute that back up plan.
Sound Restrictions
Many venues have noise restrictions, particularly in residential areas or locations with accommodation onsite. Some have specific curfews or sound level limits that need to be followed. We have DJed at several events over the years where we have been told to turn the music down to near talking volume at 10pm and the couple had no idea about the restriciton and something like this can totally ruin a great day when we are at the peak of a good time.
Knowing these in advance helps us plan the right approach and avoid any interruptions during the celebration.
Setup Locations
Sometimes the DJ setup area is a short walk from the car park. Other times it involves stairs, elevators, long distances or multiple event spaces across the property. These aren’t usually problems, but they’re useful for us to know ahead of time so we can allow enough setup time and bring any additional equipment required. Ultimately, our goal is simple: arrive fully prepared so you can focus on enjoying your wedding day.
One of our favourite parts of the planning process is learning about the music that means something to our couples.
Long before the wedding day, we’ll work with you to understand your music preferences, favourite artists, genres you love, songs that hold special memories and, just as importantly, any music you’d rather avoid.
We’ll also discuss key moments such as your ceremony music, signing songs, grand entrance, first dance, cake cutting and any other special formalities.
The goal isn’t to create a generic wedding playlist. It’s to create a soundtrack that feels like you. This is achieved with our easy to use online music forms that are saved against your booking, update live and we can track your progress on the go. These are laid out with place holders for all the most important key songs, as well as areas to give us as little or as much feedback as you like on preferences and requests.
As much or as little as you’d like.
Some couples provide extensive playlists and detailed instructions for every part of the day. Others simply give us a few favourite artists and trust us to take it from there.
Most couples fall somewhere in the middle.
We always encourage couples to share must-play songs, favourite genres and any do-not-play requests. The more we understand your tastes, the easier it is to create an atmosphere that reflects your personalities.
At the same time, you don’t need to spend countless hours building playlists if that’s not your thing. That’s what we’re here for.
This is where experience really comes into play.
We always start with your preferences because it’s your wedding day. Your vision and your music choices come first.
From there, our DJs use their experience to read the room and adjust throughout the evening. We pay attention to what’s filling the dance floor, what guests are responding to and how the energy is evolving throughout the night.
Guest requests can be a great addition too, provided they align with your preferences and the overall atmosphere you’re trying to create.
The best wedding dance floors are usually a combination of thoughtful planning and real-time flexibility. It’s about finding that perfect balance between playing the songs you love and creating moments your guests will remember long after the wedding is over.
We know planning a wedding can feel overwhelming at times, so we’ve worked hard to make our booking process as simple and stress-free as possible.
It all starts with your initial enquiry.
Once we hear from you, we’ll chat about your wedding plans, venue, guest numbers, timeline and the type of atmosphere you’d like to create. From there we’ll recommend the most suitable options and provide a recommendation for one of our premade packages, or tailor a custom quote if we feel its necessary for your requirements.
If you decide we’re the right fit, we’ll secure your date with a booking agreement and deposit.
From there, our team will stay in touch throughout the planning process. We’ll help with music planning, timelines, ceremony audio requirements, MC services and any other details that need to be considered along the way.
As the wedding gets closer, we’ll gather all of your final information, and confirm any details we have already gathered to make sure there are no changes we are unaware of, confirm logistics with both the venue contact and yourselves and ensure everyone involved knows exactly what is happening and when.
Once this is all done we hand over to our DJ and provide their contact details for you also so that if you should wish to, you have the opportunity to speak with them direct once they have prepared for the day.
Then comes the fun part.
On your wedding day, we’ll arrive fully prepared, coordinate with your venue and other suppliers, manage the audio requirements, keep the music flowing and help create an incredible atmosphere from start to finish.
Our goal is for you to spend your wedding day celebrating with family and friends, confident that the entertainment side of things is completely taken care of.
It’s a fair question, and one we’re hearing more often these days.
After all, most of us have access to millions of songs at our fingertips. Creating a playlist is easier than ever, and on the surface it can seem like a simple way to save money.
The truth is, Spotify is fantastic for listening to music.
A wedding DJ does a lot more than press play.
Spotify can play songs. A DJ creates moments.
Think about some of the biggest moments of your wedding day.
The ceremony entrance.
Walking back down the aisle as newlyweds.
Your grand entrance into the reception.
The first dance.
The speeches.
The final song of the night.
These moments aren’t just about playing the right song. They’re about timing, coordination and creating an experience.
A professional DJ works closely with your venue, celebrant, photographer, videographer and other suppliers to ensure these moments happen seamlessly and at exactly the right time.
Weddings don’t always go exactly to plan.
One thing we’ve learned from performing at hundreds of weddings is that timelines change.
Speeches run longer than expected.
Dinner service gets delayed.
Guests arrive late.
Weather changes plans.
The dance floor suddenly takes off earlier than expected.
Spotify can’t adapt to any of those situations. A professional DJ can.
We make real-time adjustments throughout the day to ensure everything continues flowing naturally, no matter what happens behind the scenes.
Reading the crowd makes a huge difference.
This is probably the biggest difference between a playlist and a professional DJ.
A playlist doesn’t know whether guests are dancing, sitting down, heading to the bar or ready for something different.
An experienced DJ is constantly watching the room.
We’re paying attention to the energy, the age groups on the dance floor, which songs are working and which direction the night is heading.
Sometimes the perfect next song isn’t the one that was originally planned. It’s the one that keeps 100 guests singing at the top of their lungs and dancing with their friends.
That’s something no playlist can do.
It’s not just about the music
Many couples are surprised by how much of our role involves things that have nothing to do with music.
We’re often helping with:
Our goal is to make the day easier for you, not just louder.
This is one of the biggest questions couples should ask themselves.
What happens if:
Professional DJs don’t just bring equipment. We bring backup equipment. We carry contingency plans because weddings are too important to leave to chance. Most guests will never know if a technical issue occurred because we already have solutions ready to go.
Absolutely.
Many of our couples use Spotify while getting ready with their bridal party or to help create inspiration playlists during the planning process.
We often use those playlists as a starting point to understand the music our couples love.
It’s not about Spotify versus a DJ.
It’s about understanding that they serve different purposes.
Our Perspective
If your goal is simply to have music playing in the background, Spotify can absolutely do that.
If you want someone who can help guide the atmosphere, coordinate key moments, adapt to unexpected changes, read the crowd, manage the sound and help create an incredible experience for your guests, that’s where a professional wedding DJ comes in.
At the end of the day, we’re not just providing music.
We’re helping create memories that you’ll be talking about long after the wedding is over.
