Meet Matteo Coletta, aka Teo: a passionate performer who draws inspiration from his Italian heritage. From early beginnings as a drummer and percussionist, he has become a captivating artist who incorporates live percussion into his DJ sets, bringing a unique blend of DJing and live instruments to corporate and public events. He is now a highly sought-after DJ based in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Creating immersive sonic experiences at ‘WellSpace’ in Queenstown introduced his warmth and creativity to many, and he never looked back.

His talent has been showcased throughout New Zealand, with multiple performances at NZ Spirit (North & South Island), Wellfest, Burning Horse, Dimension, and Winter Pride festivals, as well as for promoters such as Electric Rush, NoTrace, and others, joining international artists on the line-up.

During the winter seasons, he has regularly participated in events promoted by NZ Ski and others, including performances at Coronet Peak where, in his biggest event, he performed live percussion while DJing in front of more than 4,000 people.

As a resident DJ in Queenstown, his curated taste adds value to the local nightlife. He can be seen at Bardeaux and at other venues such as Bunker, World Bar, Yonder, Sundeck, Local, Tommy’s, Bungalow, and 1876, while consistently performing at venues, weddings, corporate events, and lively celebrations. He is also represented by booking agencies DJ4You and Better Band.

His sound has also been featured regularly at Ayrburn, Sundays, and other events, further enriching the local music scene. Corporates such as the Hilton Group and Heritage have added him to their rosters, alongside collaborations with local saxophonists.

Teo earned the Pete Tong DJ Academy Diploma, and one of his goals is to perform at weddings, clubs, major festivals, and create unforgettable experiences with his audience; achieved by empathising with the crowd and playing what feels right in the moment. His talent is employed seamlessly, navigating between genres to create atmospheres that deeply resonate with listeners

While not performing, Teo lends his skill as a representative of Apple for the Queenstown area, where his precision as an Apple-certified technician and consultant is evident. He is among the most qualified and competent in the industry, working at the intersection of technology and art.

John Ellis is a multi-instrumentalist who plays Sax, Piano, woodwinds, flute, stick and hand Percussion. Originally from a classical background, John has developed a special interest in “World Music”. And has played tradition and crossover music in Africa, India, Middle Eastern, Cuba, Brazil, China, Sumatra, as well as playing in Contemporary, Jazz, Funk, Reggae, and Celtic bands. John has worked extensively with dance, working as a Contemporary Dance Accompanist (Unitec) for four years. He also plays for traditional African and Middle Eastern dance performances and classes. and has performed and written Live music for two theatre shows, ‘The Brothers Size’ and ‘One by One’ John has worked with, the Bedyondsemble (World Music), Jews Brothers Band ( Clezmer Music), The Mamaku Project (French/Kiwi Dub), Charanga Amadeus (Cuban Charanga), Midnight Fizz (Cool Covers), . John Ellis has played extensively with DJ’s in and around Auckland, was Resident Percussionist @ The Khuja Lounge for 5 years, and has worked at Sky City regularly with DJ’s; Jason Eli, Murray Sweetpants, Manual Bundy, and Chris Cox.
